Peace Studies Reading Group
The PLOWSHARES Peace Studies Reading Group explores the ways that Jesus calls us to peace with God and with our neighbors. Our understanding of peace necessarily includes a commitment to nonviolence in the model of Jesus Christ, who chose not to respond in violence on the way to the cross and who calls his disciples to take up their crosses.
If this is not your conviction, you are still welcome.
We are beginning a new study on an active, nonviolent response to gun violence in the United States at Asbury Theological Seminary. We have two groups:
Tuesdays at noon in the Asbury Seminary Student Center
Thursdays at noon in the Asbury Seminary Student Center
To join us, please contact Christopher Ashley at email@example.com.
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps… When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
